Hall Technique Proves Cost-Effective for Primary Molar Caries

Posted: August 19, 2025 / Source: Pubmed Database

A study in Brazil compared Atraumatic Restorative Treatment (ART) to the Hall Technique (HT) for managing caries lesions in primary molars. The HT showed a higher survival rate and lower cost (€13.02) compared to ART (€16.79) over three years. The economic evaluation considered material and professional costs from the Brazilian healthcare system's perspective, showing HT as a cost-effective strategy in a school setting. The study included 131 participants with HT demonstrating a 93.4% survival rate compared to ART's 32.7%. This trial provides valuable insights for public health systems in managing carious lesions in primary molars.
