Study: 47% of CDCP-Eligible Canadians Avoid Dental Care Due to Costs

Posted: August 20, 2025 / Source: Pubmed Database

A study on cost-related avoidance of oral health services among CDCP-eligible individuals in Canada reveals that 47% avoided visits to oral health professionals and 38% skipped recommended dental care due to costs. Young and middle-aged adults, uninsured individuals, and those with lower incomes were more likely to avoid care. Dental insurance status and self-reported mouth problems were strongly associated with avoidance. The findings highlight financial barriers in accessing oral health care for many CDCP-eligible individuals, emphasizing the influence of income on service utilization.
