Study: Dental Anxiety Decline in Middle-Aged Adults Over Time

Posted: August 21, 2025 / Source: Pubmed Database

A longitudinal study of 329 German adults in 2013/2014 and 323 adults in 2019/2020 reveals a decline in Dental Anxiety Scale (DAS) scores from 9.47 to 9.21. The study highlights the stability of DAS's factor structure, strong correlations over time, and associations with life satisfaction, health, and social support. Despite the decline, dental anxiety remains relatively stable for most participants, emphasizing the need for interdisciplinary approaches in oral health care.
