Burning Mouth Syndrome: Micronutrient Deficiency Systematic Review

Posted: August 24, 2025 / Source: Pubmed Database

A systematic review protocol is being developed to investigate the prevalence of micronutrient deficiency in patients with Burning Mouth Syndrome (BMS). The review aims to identify lower-than-normal levels of micronutrients like iron, folate, cobalamin, zinc, and homocysteine in BMS patients. Scheduled for August 25, 2025, the review will analyze observational studies from various databases and may include meta-analyses. The protocol does not need ethical approval and will be published in a peer-reviewed journal and presented at a conference.
